Our family enjoyed a great hike in the Smokies last May. Little did we know that we would come upon a real live bear. We felt a little excited and a little anxious. Fortunately, there was a ranger following the movement of the bear.

I think I would have been really scared!!
I actually was scared at first. But it was ok because every time the bear came within 100 feet of the trail, the ranger blew a loud horn. The ranger also had a gun. I did find out a few days later that back in 2010 a 14 year old boy was mauled by a bear on this same trail. Also, a little girl fell to her death at the falls area. So sad.
